(This is a cleaned up and more concise written version of my video. It has been rewritten to sound more professional and less rambling. That said, my friend worked extremely hard on editing the video, so I recommend watching that instead, especially since this article does not add much new information.)

NTE Doko?

NTE, or Neverness to Everness, is a gacha game I have been excited about for quite some time. I have also been looking forward to news about the third closed beta, mainly to see the improvements and finally get my hands on the game myself. Because of that, you can probably imagine how excited I was when NTE released footage in a six minute trailer announcing the new beta, especially considering we have not gotten any real news about the game in a very long time. Our last post related to the game was simply a Happy Halloween image.

I am just going to do a brief overview of what I noticed in the footage and share my hopes for the game, but overall I mainly want to talk about it since I am so hyped.

New Trailer, New Features

Starting from the beginning, the trailer immediately showed multiple skins for the female MC and Nanally. This is actually a very exciting aspect for me because, if you did not know, NTE has what I would call, on paper, a fairly generous gacha system. There are no 50/50s, you will always get the rated-up banner character, and the pity is at 90 pulls. Plus, when you pull for a character’s dupes, I believe you can decide which order you want to activate it in, so there’s sno such thing as a character’s kit being locked behind the last duplicate upgrade, because you can choose the order.

That all sounds great, but my biggest worry has always been that it sounds a bit too good, especially for a massive game like this that needs to make a lot of money back.

However, seeing how many skins were already shown in the trailer on a per-character basis makes me think they are going to rely quite a bit on skins. This could be hinting at their monetization strategy, and hopefully it means the gacha system will actually remain as generous as it looks on paper, assuming they do not skimp on the amount of currency given per patch.

But anyway, setting that aside, the outfits themselves look really cute, and they seem very individualized for each character, which is kind of crazy because I was actually expecting them to make more generalized outfits that could be used on everybody. At least Nanally’s outfit seems very tailor-made for her, and that is just awesome. It even changes her haircut, which I have seen a lot of skins in other games try to avoid doing. Overall, the skins are super cute, and I cannot wait to see more of them.

Then the trailer starts to show off some of the other mini-games, like the Tetris one, the fishing mini-game, the mahjong game which by the way if you look closely you can also see Jiyuan and Fadia’s skins, and also the first-person driving mode, which, by the way, used to be a bug in the closed beta, but it seems they have decided to make it a real, full-fledged feature. One mode I am really interested in is the horror-esque mode where you seem to have to hide from a monster. I really hope they decide to flesh out all of these side activities, because it would make NTE as a whole stand out a lot in the gacha genre.

Right after, they also show our MC with the gang looking at some type of vault. I’m not really sure what that means; maybe it’s hinting at some kind of heist quest we can do. I’m kind of curious how that will work in the story, because while we can commit crimes, the purpose and lore of our characters is definitely not very criminal. That said, the very next shot we get is our male MC in prison of all things, which I find hilarious because while the female MC is going on a date with Nanally, the male MC is stuck in prison. What are you trying to say about the male MC, Hotta?

Going back to the female MC, in the date we see with Nanally, it looks like we’ll be able to hold the NPC’s hand. I’m curious if this will just be a physical interaction or if there will be lines or story associated with it. Can we actually date them, or is this more like a friendship mechanic? Either way, hand-holding is very cute. This game just seems like such a fun, wholesome experience, which is why I’ve been wanting to play it for so long.

The social and interaction aspects with other characters are something I really like about this game. Characters will walk to their destinations, and they said they plan for characters to roam around the city even outside of quests. Being able to go on dates with them or have roommates will just add more to the life simulation element, which I really love.

Please Hotta, I Need This!

The rest of the trailer introduces tons of new characters, and I actually think they’re really starting to lock in the character design. I feel like the older ones, while there were of course some well-designed characters, felt a bit less focused. These newer ones, to me, feel like they’re leaning more into the charm of the game. They’re still brightly colored, but in a way that feels more deliberate, if that makes sense. Some even lean heavily into the supernatural element, like Nitsha with her weird phantom hair thing going on, and Lingko, who has a tiny ghost girl that comes out of the TV like a bratty version of the Ring.

All that said, I can’t wait for this game. I’m excited to see what isn’t shown in the trailer, like whether there are any combat changes or character design updates. Maybe Jenson needs a redesign too. I just want to see it all. Overall, I think the game is shaping up to be really nice. The character designs are getting better, we’re getting awesome skins, and the visuals seem to have improved even more. The trailer lacked gameplay changes, but we’ll be seeing those pretty soon. I’m also going to be on the Prydwen writing team for NTE. I practically begged to be there, so I’m excited to be covering the game in general. I’ll also try to upload some videos here and there on my YouTube channel. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get access to the beta so we can get a full feel for the changes from the last beta before this game comes out, which I’m sure will be pretty soon.
